L9 Community Science Club

STEM education is essential for preparing children for the future. In underserved communities like the Lower 9th Ward, access to hands-on science opportunities can spark curiosity, build confidence, and open doors to new possibilities.

Thanks to a generous gift from Entergy New Orleans, the L9 Science Club provides up to 50 children with exciting STEM kits and activities designed to inspire creativity and critical thinking — bringing hands-on science education directly into our community.

Due to limited funding, enrollment is currently capped at 50 children. Your support can help us grow.

Why It Matters

60% of New Orleans children grow up in single-parent households. The child poverty rate in the Lower 9th Ward is 67%. Access to quality STEM education is not a given for kids in our neighborhood — and that gap has lifelong consequences.

The Science Club is one way NENA is closing that gap: giving children tools to experiment, discover, and believe in their own potential.
