Case Management
At the core of NENA’s approach to rebuilding are the case management services it provides directly to residents, including
- Identifying residents’ assets, sustainable income sources, and any grant or debt monies received for rebuilding;
- Detailing residents’ current and former housing situation, including title issues;
- Assessing residents’ pre-Katrina insurance policies; and
- Identifying residents’ employment skills and opportunities.
With this information, NENA creates a financial planning program for residents that targets specific rebuilding sources, and provides referrals.
Currently, NENA has approximately 1,200 households in its case management system, and over the past six months alone has delivered more than 500 housing consultations and 500 budget and financial planning sessions.
