NENA's mission is to play a vital role in our neighborhood's redevelopment. We implement sustainable projects and programs in decent and affordable housing, economic development and education with clear community involvement and direction. Its Board of Directors includes seven members, all of whom live, work, or worship in the Lower Ninth Ward.
NENA utilizes an innovative resident-based approach to the comprehensive rebuilding of the Lower Ninth Ward, providing services and implementing sustainable programs in community outreach, case management, design and construction administration, home and school rebuilding, and economic development.
In addition, NENA has ongoing partnerships the Loyola School of Law, Tulane University, Crescent City Alliance Recovery Effort (CARE), and numerous local and national organizations and supporters. NENA is also a ember of the Greater New Orleans Disaster Recovery Partnership. NENA has staff members in the areas of management and administration, Outreach, Case Management, Economic Development, and Volunteer Services

Want to know what's been going on at NENA's monthly Community Meetings?
Mrs. St. Martin of Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans gave an informative presentation to the Lower 9th Ward residents regarding the Street Repairs, Drainage Systems and the East Bank Waste Water Treatment plans. Another recent Guest speaker of NENA's Monthly Community meeting was State Representative (Louisiana) Wesley T. Bishop.
DID YOU KNOW...
· The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has approved NENA to be a Housing Counseling Agency.
· You can register for disaster food stamps at NENA. One of our trained staff members will assist you.
· Dr. King Charter School was the first school to open in the Lower Ninth Ward after Hurricane Katrina.
· New Orleans City Councilmember Jon Johnson represents District E.
